This website is presently being updated. Updates will be made as the information comes available from the state technology fair planning committees. Information which has not been updated and/or verified will appear in gray until the information has been updated and verified. We anticipate most, if not all, of the information will be available during the summer and should be posted early in the 2008-2009 school year.
DATE OF REGIONAL TECHNOLOGY FAIR TBA
LOCATION TBA
REGISTRATION DEADLINE (Tenative) Monday, January 12, 2009
We have a new scheduling structure this year that will require additional planning to schedule judges. Because of this, we cannot accept late registrations. NOTE: We hope to push the deadline later into the month. That will be determined when we select a venue for the technology fair.
LUNCH Lunch will be “on your own”. The University of West Georgia has a dining facility located within walking distance of the School of Education (approximately $6.00). Other options are available off-campus (McDonalds, Arby’s, etc.). A food court is available in the student center, however, space may be very limited there. You are also welcome to bring sack lunches.
COMPUTER EQUIPMENT Each participant is required to provide their own equipment as equipment is no longer provided. This includes the computer (laptop or desktop), speakers (if needed), multi-outlet power strip, etc. No projection devices are allowed. No tri-board displays are allowed.
PHOTO/VIDEOTAPE RELEASE FORM We must have a signed release form for each student participating in the fair. This may be downloaded from the website using the link provided on the REGISTRATION page.
INTERNET ACCESS Remember, No Internet access is guaranteed. If students are entering an Internet/Intranet project, they need to capture any links/images two layers deep. Please verify the Internet/Intranet project works on the captured copy of the project by testing it on a computer that is not on the Internet. Many forget this step only to lose points on their presentation to the judges.
FIRST PLACE WINNERS Per the State Technology Fair committee, Projects must earn 80% or better to proceed to the state level. Specifically—even if there is only one project in a grade level/category, the project would technically be a first place winner but to proceed to the state level, it will have to earn 80% or better on the judges scoring sheets. This will include an 80% or better score on the Technology Literacy Category. At the top of each Rubric there is a break point score spread. The entry’s score MUST fall within this range to qualify to proceed to the state fair.
SOFTWARE APPLICATION LIST Please send in a list of all software applications being used and in what category the project is entered. This includes everything used in any aspect of the creation of the project. If possible, this should be sent in with the registration. The list does not have to be included per entry, just a compilation from each system/school sending in entries.
